Hamamelitannin and hamamelose are strong anti-inflammatories and astringents, while proanthocynanins are potent anti-oxidants up to 20 times stronger than Vitamin C and 50 times more powerful than Vitamin E. Gallic acid, a flavonoid, is a good wound healer as well as anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor all skin types, the proanthocyanins stabilize collagen and elastin and work as very good anti-oxidants, while the other constituents are anti-inflammatory.
